What Do You Need to Do If You Get a Speeding Ticket?
There are a few steps you can take when you receive a speeding ticket in Florida. Here are some of the things you can do.
Option 1: Accept That You’re Guilty
If you accept that you’re guilty, you‘ll have to pay the complete fine. But, in this case, you won’t have to go to the court or complete a defensive driving course. You should only opt for this if you know for a fact that it was your fault and there is no way you can get out of this mess without having to pay. This will save you from a lot of hassle. At the end of the day, you won’t have to go to a court for a settlement. (Not a wise choice)
Option 2: Opt to Attend a Defensive Driving School
In the case you opt to attend a defensive driving school, your points are waived off. There won’t be any need for you to go to the court, and there will also be a 9% discount on your fine. You will have to complete 4 hours of classes within 120 days.
Option 3: Go to a Traffic Court
In this case, you will immediately have to call your lawyer Carlos Gonzalez Law and inform him/her within 30 days of the incident that you want to go to court. In the court, you will have three options to choose from; ‘guilty,’ ‘not guilty,’ or ‘no contest.’ In case you choose ‘not guilty’ and the decision of the court is not in your favor, you’ll have to pay a hefty fine, all court costs, and lawyer fee too. If you’re proven not guilty, then all charges are waived off. But this is rarely the case.
